Ilico
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC
“Spicy harmony

Amongst our lands there is a hill that we have always called Ilico. Perhaps because of the great holm oak that once stood atop it, or perhaps because of an even older memory. Today, on that plot of land, the vines that give life to our Montepulciano DOC grow. A long maceration using the traditional method, twelve months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a further eight to ten months of bottle ageing. The result is Ilico, a wine as deep red as a ruby, which brings to the glass the aroma of ripe red fruits, with notes of vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, it is both fresh and savoury, with well-balanced tannins: a harmony that grows on you with every sip.

Selected plots located in the municipality of Controguerra at 260 metres above sea level.

90 – 100 quintals per hectare.
Wine-making and ageing
maceration in stainless steel vats at 28°C. Ageing in 25-hl Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months, followed by approximately 10 months of bottle ageing.
